Texas Beeworks is beekeeping company based in Austin, Texas with a mission to preserve, protect, and increase honeybee populations across the Lone Star State by helping bees and beekeepers thrive. Founded by Erika Thompson on the principle of putting hives before honey, Texas Beeworks supports the health and wellness of honeybees by offering beekeeping classes, private lessons, host-a-hive programs, mentorships, and more.


Beekeeping for the Ag Exemption

If you have between 5 and 20 acres in Central Texas and would like to hire a beekeeper to place hives on your property and manage the colonies so that you can qualify for the ag exemption, please contact us with information about your property and to learn more!

 Join me and the bees on Wednesday, April 25th on the rooftop of The Contemporary in downtown Austin for a showing of the poetic film   Five Seasons with Piet Oudolf  . This documentary looks at the creative process of influential landscape architect Piet Oudolf. Oudolf visits his private Dutch garden and signature public works including New York’s High Line and Chicago’s Millennium Park (both of which have beehives), as well as a major new garden at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.  I'll be there with an observation hive and I hope to see you there! Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 or FREE for museum members.   Picnics and BYOB welcome for all Rooftop films! The Contemporary's neighbors  Royal Blue Grocery  are also offering 20% off food and drink purchases. Just check in at the Jones Center and get your wristband, then go across the street (609 Congress Ave.) to take advantage of this offer.

Once Erika Thompson got a peek into the world of bees, she was hooked. "They're fascinating. Every time I get in a hive, I learn something new," said Thompson, a beekeeper who has made it her mission to educate the public about the tiny winged wonders.
